Today it’s easier than ever for a charity to set up  a beautiful websites and accept donations. People who manage nonprofit organizations clearly understand how hard it can be to make ends meet + with the current state of economy fewer people are donating. Hiring a professional web-designer or web design firm will end up costing you anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 for a website. The good news is, with WordPress, you can now create and manage your website without spending thousands of dollars for a web developer. Also just a quick tip. I recently watched a TED talk called “Photos that bear witness to modern slavery” by Lisa Kristine. After hearing the devastating circumstances that people face in modern day slavery, I wanted to donate. I went to the website and tried to donate via PayPal. Surprisingly they had donation set up through PayPal (most charities don’t, which is just lazy). After trying 6 times and reloading the page, the payment did not go through. I decided to reach them via Twitter, but still no reply. If you’re starting a serious charity, please make sure to look professional in every aspect (social media, web design, payment process, newsletters, receipts and etc).
